Only the real old-timers in Lafayette-Pointer Park will remember the original water feature in the Park. It was in the same location as the current water daisy but had long since ceased to work when the Friends of Lafayette Park was founded in 1999. It was a modern wooden sculpture but had become both an eyesore and a safety hazard. Now the neighborhood children take great delight in playing in the waterfall.
At the time of its original installation in 2005, the city also installed hose bibs throughout the park to assist the Friends of Lafayette-Poionter Park garden group with their amazing work of beautifying our park. Since then, the FOLP and the city have worked together to use the water generated by the Daisy to automatically water the perimeter gardens in the park.
