Elizabeth Engel – Co-President
Elizabeth lives across from Lafayette Park and was a founding member and president of the Friends of Lafayette Recreation Center and Park (FoLRAP), established in 2016.
Jeff Stoiber – President Emeritus
Jeff worked with Beth Pierce to establish the Friends of Lafayette Park in 1999 and has served as vice president and now president of the organization. Jeff has lived next to the park since 1985 and along with his wife has raised their four children in the Lafayette Park neighborhood. Jeff is a professional architect and president of Stoiber + Associates PC, a firm he founded in 1983. Prior to that he worked for a local firm as well as a leading national architectural firm with a focus on preservation and adaptive reuse. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture at The Ohio State University.
Dennis Smyth – Treasurer
Dennis Smyth has been a resident of Chevy Chase DC since 1998. He grew up in the suburbs of New York City and moved to DC in 1989. His wife Eileen is a physician at Georgetown University Hospital and daughters Brigid and Evelyn currently attend Lafayette ES and Wilson HS. Dennis’ family loves the many benefits of living so close to this wonderful park. Dennis’ 37 year career in the financial services, management consulting and non-profit sectors included: seven years as a senior credit risk analyst at Merrill Lynch in New York and London; 15 years as a management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting and IBM Business Consulting Services, serving mainly one client, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); and a 22-year association with the Washington, D.C. affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International that included 15 years as a board member and five years as a senior staff member.
Keith Jones
Keith lives across the street from Lafayette Park and was a founding member of the Friends of Lafayette Recreation Center and Park (FoLRAP), established in 2016.
Judy Goodman
Judy is a professional photographer and sculptor and an avid gardener. She and her husband, Frank Van Riper, are commercial and documentary photographers. Their latest book is Serenissima: Venice in Winter, published to rave reviews in 2009 in the US and in Italy. They have lived in their Quesada St. home since 1983. Judy has been involved with gardening in Lafayette Park for more than a decade.

Laura Phinizy
Laura lives across from Lafayette Park and was a founding member of the Friends of Lafayette Recreation Center and Park (FoLRAP), established in 2016. She is dedicated to ensuring the park is well-managed for the benefit of all the kids and members of the community.
