FALL 2017 PARK CLEAN-UP DAY Set For Oct. 28, 2017
Park clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers and the whole family are welcome to help pick up a rake, or pitch in to help keep our neighborhood park clean.
The FOLP provides community service hours to any student who needs the hours.
Lafayette Elementary School underwent a complete rehabilitation and modernization in 2015-2016. FOLP continues to be actively involved in monitoring the completed project to ensure any needed repairs and restoration work to the park from the construction is completed.

Pet Waste Stations
The Board of Directors of Friends of Lafayette Park is considering a plan to install two pet waste stations at the park. The hope is to encourage more dog owners to clean up after their pets and to prevent overflow of the existing trash cans. We are working with the vendor to determine the most effective locations. The waste stations would be emptied and monitored by a private firm on a regular basis. Frequency will start at once per week and be monitored and adjusted as needed. The units are sealed which will help with odors. Any thoughts or comments? We’d love to hear from you. Areas that need work are:
- Weed pulling on the berm next to the upper playground
- Leaf raking around the rec center
- Weed pulling in the planters on either side of the newly repaired amphitheater next to the ball fields
- General trash and branch pick-up throughout the park
- Clean-up of erosion on the paths throughout the park
Thanks as always for the great community support and we’ll see everyone at the next clean-up. If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Friends of Lafayette (FOLP) will have on going projects at the park as part of the Phase II master plan. Currently, we have finished the pathway, please review the site plan for more details. FOLP will also be fixing the drainage on the top of the hill to alleviate the erosion problem on the ball field track. Please visit our park enhancement section frequently to find out the most recent park improvements.
